Volunteering Information
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the City of Medford. To become a City volunteer you must register as an MRC volunteer. (See below)
If you are looking for ways to volunteer with the City of Medford Health Department, click here.
To participate in basic volunteer opportunities such as calling neighbors to check in on them or help out at an event, we ask that you complete this form.
- The form will capture your details (name, phone, email address) for the Health Department to log you as a potential volunteer as well as direct you to register as an MRC volunteer if you are not already.
- This would provide you with the credentials to volunteer in Medford as well as if If you are interested in a greater role that would include responding directly to people in need, particularly during emergency situations like the COVID-19 pandemic. All volunteers are required to be part of the City’s “Medical Reserve Corps.” (You do NOT need to be a medical professional to become an MRC member.) To apply, CLICK HERE for additional information.
Whether or not you plan to volunteer directly with the City, we encourage you to review these precautions for anyone assisting friends, neighbors, etc. during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
If you are a resident in need of support, or if you know of a friend/neighbor in Medford who cannot get out of their home and needs assistance, please fill out THIS FORM. This alerts us that someone needs to receive a call back from the Medford Health Department personnel or assigned volunteers to help with a current issue.
Additional Ways to Help
Give blood: The American Red Cross is in need of donations. It has set up clean, secure sites with protocols for proper social distancing. These sites will remain open as “essential services.” For more information visit redcross.org.
Call for Volunteers: To support ongoing COVID-19 emergency response efforts, the Baker-Polito Administration has partnered with the Massachusetts Medical Society to match health and medical volunteers with our communities and health care providers based on skillsets and need. There is an immediate need for respiratory therapists and public health nurses, and the administration is asking health care professionals interested in volunteering to sign up by CLICKING HERE.
SOCIAL DISTANCING! THE most important tool at our disposal is social distancing. Stay home as much as you can, and if you do need to go out for a walk, to the grocery store or pharmacy, keep six feet between yourself and others. Limit activities at City parks to passive use only (going for walks or hikes, no group activities or pick up games).
