Exemptions
The application period for FY2026 begins on July 1, 2025.
Homeowners who own and occupy their property as of July 1, 2025 and meet the ownership requirements that are on the application, and who are certain disabled veterans, low-income seniors, legally blind persons, and surviving spouses, are qualified to apply for an exemption which would reduce their real estate tax bills in January and April (the July and October bills do not get the exemption). Please note: If your home is held in a Trust, then you are the homeowner only if you are a Trustee or Co-Trustee and have sufficient beneficial interest in the home. Each exemption grants a different amount. We have mailed a blank application to those who received the exemption last year but that does not guarantee automatic approval because the Board of Assessors reviews every application every year. We encourage applications to be submitted to the Assessing Department by October 10 for timely processing.
