
Community Development Board
Mission
The Community Development Board was established in accordance with the provisions of chapter 839 of the Acts of 1974 and has the power and authority to perform the duties set forth in M.G.L. c. 41, § 81A et seq., pertaining to a planning board so established. The Board consists of seven members, of which six are appointed by the Mayor and one by the State. The Board’s responsibilities include administration of the Subdivision Control Law, conducting site plan review for major projects, reviewing and recommending changes to the Zoning Ordinance, and general planning to guide growth and development in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.

Unless otherwise specified, meetings occur at 6:30pm every first and third Wednesday of the month. Check the City Calendar for meeting details.

Site Plan Review
Site Plan Review is for construction projects that will have significant impacts on the city. Below is a summary of projects that would need this review. For more information, refer to Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 94 Section 11.7.2.

- 10,000+ SF Changes
- Parking Lots
- Drive-in eating places & 5,000+ SF eating establishment
- 10,000+ SF Medical Office
- Gasoline Station
- Neighborhood/Convenience Retail
Site Plan Review starts with a pre-application meeting with Danielle Evans, Senior Planner. These meetings can be scheduled by calling the Office of Planning, Development, and Sustainability at 781-393-2480 and requesting a Site Plan Review pre-application meeting.

Once Site Plan Review applications are submitted, there is a 14-day period to determine if the applications are complete. Applicants may receive a request to add or modify applications.
Once a Site Plan Review application is determined to be complete. It then moves into the standard review process determined by the Zoning Ordinance and Chapter 40A MGL. Please note, this period starts when an application has been declared complete; it does NOT start the date the party filed the application.
