City of Medford Ordinance [854] and [855] establish the requirements and process for the issuance of marijuana establishment licenses in the City. The City’s intent is to license marijuana establishments that meet community goals and objectives set forth by the Mayor and City Council.
Licenses available in the City of Medford include: Marijuana Retailer; Marijuana Cultivator; Marijuana Product Manufacturer; Craft Marijuana Cooperative; Microbusiness; Delivery-Only; Marijuana Transporter; Independent Testing Laboratory; Marijuana Research Facility. Definitions for each are contained in City of Medford Ordinance [854].
Operators interested in receiving a license will be required to submit an application to be reviewed by the Cannabis Advisory Committee (CAC). Upon review by the CAC, applicants will be selected by the Mayor to negotiate a Host Community Agreement (HCA). Applicant’s that successfully negotiate an HCA will then be permitted to seek approval for a license from the Special Granting Authority, as outlined in the ordinance.
Currently, the Cannabis Advisory Committee is in the process of finalizing the application criteria, evaluation parameters, and timelines for the consideration of applications. It is the City’s expectation to have applications available in the first quarter of 2021.
All marijuana establishments are required to be licensed by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC). Information on the CCC and its licensing requirements can be found at: mass-cannabis-control.com.
