Run Medford Road Race Returning September 27 & 28

5K, 5-Mile, Kids Fun Run and more returning to Hormel Stadium and Medford Square this fall

(MEDFORD) — The City of Medford and the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation are hosting the third annual Run Medford Road Race event weekend on September 27 and 28, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced. The events will be held at the Hormel Stadium track on Friday, September 27 and at City Hall on Saturday, September 28.

This year, Run Medford introduces Jerry’s Run for all Ages 5K Race, named after Jerry Panarese, who was a member of the New England 65+ Runners Club. Jerry was the director of the Run of All Ages for 25 years. In addition to the 5K, the event will also feature races for all ages, including a kids’ fun run, 5-mile race, high school mile, VIP/Celebrity mile, and more.

"After the major success of the past two years of Run Medford, we are excited to partner with the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation again to bring even more excitement and energy to race weekend,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “This event has had a huge positive impact on our community, local businesses, and nonprofits, so we are excited to continue this tradition.”

"The Finish Strong Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with the City of Medford again to promote physical activity and community-building,” said Dave McGillivray. “Medford will always be home and I can’t think of a better way to give back to the community than by sharing my passion and appreciation for running. I know this third year will be our best year yet and I can’t wait to see everyone in Medford Square!”

McGillivray graduated from Medford High School in 1972 as class valedictorian. In 1978, he ran from Medford, OR, to Medford, MA, in support of the Jimmy Fund, an organization whose community-based fundraising events directly benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He then founded the Dave McGillivray Running and Sports Center in Medford, and soon transitioned to his event management business, Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises.
