Medford’s Solid Waste Task Force Releases Survey to Gauge Community Needs and Priorities

The City’s Solid Waste Task Force, a nine-member group consisting of local officials, community advocates and concerned residents has released resident focused and business-owner focused surveys to solicit input, gather data and ultimately learn more about the waste removal needs and priorities ahead of the City negotiating a new vendor contract next year.

The Solid Waste Taskforce and the City will use the information gathered from the surveys to shape the direction of the City’s next waste hauling contract—understanding the priorities of residents while balancing the costs of disposal. Following the close of the survey, the City will convene a public meeting to get more feedback from our community.

“Our waste removal needs have changed over the course of our current contract and we now have an opportunity to make the City’s waste management system more equitable, sustainable and efficient,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “Community involvement is critical to this process and I encourage everyone to fill out our surveys and let us know what your priorities, concerns and suggestions are for the future.”

The surveys are translated into multiple languages and are available digitally and in hard copy form at the Office of Planning, Development and Sustainability at Medford City Hall. The surveys will run from September 1st to October 1st.
