Medford Tree Committee Seeks Applicants
The City is seeking applicants to serve on the newly formed Tree Committee, an advisory committee established to promote a diverse, healthy and sustainable urban forest. Residents interested in promoting the health, general welfare, and quality of life for the Medford community as well as the beauty and quality of the City’s environment should consider applying.
The Committee will consist of nine members, who are Medford residents. Individuals with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including youth residents ages 15-22, and residents with experience in the field of urban forestry and/or landscape design. All members will be on a volunteer, unpaid basis.
The initials appointments will be made by the Mayor as follows:
· Three members for a term of three years
· Three members for a term of two years
· Three members for a term of one year
All following appointments will be for a term of three years.
The Committee members will serve as advisors to the City Tree Warden related to trees located on public property. Responsibilities may include assisting with public tree hearings, advise on the management of the urban forest, reviewing tree maintenance plans, promoting equity of tree planting across the City, and more.
