Medford Opening Applications for Senior Work Off Real Estate Tax Abatement Program
The City of Medford’s Council on Aging and Office of the Assessor invites seniors, ages 60 and over, to apply for the Senior Work-Off Abatement Program. Through this program, seniors have the opportunity to lower their real estate tax payments by temporarily working for the City.
The work program will begin on September 5, 2024, and must be completed on or before February 23, 2025.
Please be aware that there are only approximately 20 spots available for the program and certain positions will require specific skill sets. Senior veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Only one applicant will be selected per household. Applicants must be owner-occupants. All qualified senior residents are encouraged to apply with preference given to those who have not yet participated in the program.
The Council on Aging and Assessor’s Office will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 30 at 1pm at the Senior Center (101 Riverside Ave.) to share information and answer questions.
All applications must be completed and returned to the Medford Senior Center by August 12, 2024 at 12 p.m.
