Medford Offering Up to $25,000 in Low-Interest Loans to Increase Safe Housing Options for Qualified Homeowners
Housing Rehabilitation Pilot Program uses CDBG funding to support safety projects for low- to moderate-income homeowners on their property
Application deadline is October 20, 2024
The City of Medford invites low to moderate-income homeowners who live in owner-occupied homes in Medford to apply for low-interest, deferred payment loans of up to $25,000 through the Housing Rehabilitation Pilot Program, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
The loans will support projects up to $25,000 to expand safe and sanitary housing options in Medford. Projects can include repairs to foundations, heating systems, insulation, walls/ceilings/floors, painting, plumbing, electrical, siding/roof, porches/steps, windows, and more. Program staff will hire a qualified rehabilitation specialist to determine the scope of work and identify qualified contractors through a bidding process.
This is a pilot program with limited funds for the first year. The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). To ensure equal opportunities for all eligible applicants, a lottery will be conducted.
Medford homeowners who live in their homes and have household incomes (including income of all household members aged 18 and above) that are at or below the HUD Income Limits are eligible to apply.
“The need for safe housing in our region only continues to grow, yet fulfilling that need remains unaffordable for many,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “We're proud to launch this pilot program that leverages CDBG funding to help low to moderate-income residents complete necessary safety and improvement projects for their homes.”
Interested homeowners are requested to apply for this program by October 20, 2024.
Applicants can check eligibility criteria before applying through the program guidelines. All applicants are required to complete a Homeowner Application Form which is available:
