Medford Launches Veterans and First Responders Recovery Group

Medford Launches Veterans and First Responders Recovery Group

The City has launched a Veterans and First Responders Recovery Group, which will meet on Tuesday evenings at 7pm at the First Baptist Church of Medford, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. Meetings began on Tuesday, May 12.

The new group is sponsored by the Medford Veterans’ Services and Public Health Departments and will be led by the City's Recovery Coach, Chris Summa. The recovery group is for all veterans and first responders who are in need of support. All are welcome on a drop-in basis.

“Medford veterans and first responders have done so much to support our country, and it's so important that they have access to resources and programs that can help them through their challenges,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “Thank you to our Veterans’ Services Director, Veronica Shaw, and our Recovery Coach, Chris Summa, for starting this group and for all you do to support our community on a daily basis.”

The Veterans and First Responders Recovery Group is a new subchapter of the larger Medford Peer Recovery Group, which meets on Wednesdays at 4:30pm in City Hall. Both groups are run by Chris Summa, who is a local resource available to help you or your loved ones with substance use recovery in both one-on-one and group settings.
