Medford Launches “Adopt-a-Site" Program
The City has launched an Adopt-a-Site program to help beautify public spaces across Medford, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. All individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to adopt and maintain an available public space.
The goal of this program is to enhance and beautify public sites, traffic islands, and other green spaces throughout the City of Medford by enlisting the support of businesses, civic groups, institutions, and individuals to serve as sponsors.
Participants will sign up for an available location and agree to invest "sweat equity," meaning they commit to maintaining the space (planting flowers, removing weeds, ensuring the area stays clean, etc.). In return for these efforts, the City will install a sign on the site acknowledging the adopter(s) of the space.
“We have numerous small public sites and green spaces that are in need of beautification and a little extra care,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “This is a great opportunity for residents or groups to help encourage a sense of pride in our community and get some public recognition for their work.”
The map of available locations for adoption can be found here. The red tree icons are locations that still need to be adopted. Green tree icons are locations that have already been taken.
