Medford Kicking off its Wreath’s Across America Initiative with a Goal of Placing 375 Wreaths in Honor of Fallen Veterans

Wreaths will be laid at gravestones at Oak Grove Cemetery on December 19 

Deadline to sponsor a wreath is December 2 

Oak Grove Cemetery will once again be an official location for the 2026 Wreaths Across America (WAA) initiative on Saturday, December 19.  

Wreaths Across America started as a simple gesture of thanks that has grown into a national, yearlong movement of dedicated volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation’s fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the value of freedom. This year, there will be nearly 5,600 participating locations placing veterans’ wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day – Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026 – with more than three million volunteers coming together. 

“Our first year participating in Wreaths Across America was such a memorable experience and showed how generous and committed our community is to honoring our veterans,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “I encourage everyone who’s able, to sponsor a wreath or volunteer on December 19 so that together we can ensure every veteran laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery is remembered with the dignity and gratitude they deserve.” 

The goal for the City is to raise enough funds to place 375 sponsored veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of all the local heroes laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery, to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country never be forgotten and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration.
