Medford Installing Four New Bluebike Stations

The City is installing four new Bluebike stations at highly requested areas of the community this summer, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. The new stations will be located at Carr Park, Medford High School (Steve Miller Dr. at Winthrop St.), Governors Ave. at Lawrence Rd. (adjacent to Lawrence Memorial Hospital), and Winthrop Circle.

These new stations will be added to the existing network in Medford, bringing the total number up to 15 across the community. The stations were paid for through Community Connections Grants secured in fall 2023 and casino mitigation funding.

“By expanding our Bluebike network across the city, we’re continuing to limit our carbon emissions, reduce traffic congestion throughout the community and make transportation more accessible for those who don’t drive,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “This is a cost-effective, sustainable way of getting around Medford and it significantly contributes to achieving our climate goals. Thank you to our Traffic and Transportation Director Todd Blake for his work coordinating our Bluebike network.”

Bluebike stations are aimed to be located at key transit points, increasing the City’s last mile connections to public transportation. In addition to the four new locations, Bluebike stations can be found at Hickey Park, Auburn Street at Mystic River, West Medford Square, Logan Park, Hormel Stadium, Harris Park, Haines Square, Tufts Square, Main Street at Brooks Park, Medford Square (opposite Riverside Plaza), and the Wellington MBTA Station.
