Mayor Lungo-Koehn Appoints Captain Paul Covino to Temporarily Lead Police Department as Provisional Chief

Captain Paul Covino has been appointed Provisional Police Chief for 30 days, temporarily fulfilling the role while Chief Jack Buckley is out on extended leave, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced.

Captain Paul Covino brings over 39 years of experience with the Medford Police Department and has served with distinction in a variety of leadership roles, including night patrol, community service and in the Investigative Services Bureau. He will lead the department during Chief Buckley’s absence, ensuring that public safety and community service are provided without interruption.

“Chief Buckley is an exemplary leader, a trusted advisor to many and one who leads with integrity in everything he does,” Mayor Lungo-Koehn said. “Filling this role in the interim will not be easy, but I am confident that Captain Covino will be able to guide this department with the same level of professionalism, work ethic and experience.”

Captain Covino will begin serving as provisional chief immediately starting tomorrow, June 10^th.
