City to Host Hazardous Waste Event on June 8 at Andrews Middle School

The City will be hosting its second Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day event on Saturday, June 8th from 9am–1pm at the Andrews Middle School, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.

Residents will have the opportunity to properly dispose of common household hazardous items, such as oil-based paints, lawn/garden chemicals, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, gasoline/kerosene/diesel fuels and oil, household cleaners and more for a fee, payable by check or exact cash. This event has been made possible in part by grant funding through the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

To help expedite collections, the City is encouraging residents to register for a specific 15 minute timeslot for arrival. Reservations can be done online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094AABAF2DA1F5CE9-47627599-city#/ or by calling the DPW office at (781) 393-2417. There will be a separate line for those without reservations; extended wait times due to volume are expected.

The following fees will be collected for disposals: $30.00 for ¼ trunk load, $35.00 for ½ trunk load and $60.00 for a full trunk load. Checks and exact cash will be the only accepted form of payment; credit cards will not be accepted.

For a full list of items that will be accepted and tips on how to safely transport your materials to the disposal event, visit the DPW’s page here. If you cannot attend this collection day, Medford is participating in a Regional Reciprocal Program, that allows Medford residents to take part in Hazardous Collection events in neighboring cities and towns.
