City Holding Its First-Ever Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on April 8

The City will be hosting its first-ever Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day event on Saturday, April 8th from 9am–1pm at the DPW City Yard (21 James Street), announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. This will be Medford’s first hazardous waste disposal event, and residents of neighboring communities are welcome to join.

Residents will have the opportunity to properly dispose of common household hazardous items, such as oil-based paints, lawn/garden chemicals, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, gasoline/kerosene/diesel fuels and oil, household cleaners and more for a fee, payable by check. This event has been made possible in part by grant funding through the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

Residents are asked to sign up for an appointment window in advance, which can be done online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094AABAF2DA1F5CE9-hazardous or by calling the DPW office at (781) 393-2417.

The following fees will be collected for disposals: $30.00 for ¼ trunk load, $35.00 for ½ trunk load and $60.00 for a full trunk load. Checks will be the only accepted form of payment.
