City Establishing Community Outreach Task Force to Enhance Communication Efforts

City Establishing Community Outreach Task Force to Enhance Communication Efforts

The City is establishing a new task force aimed at strengthening relationships and communication efforts throughout the community by collaborating with dedicated Neighborhood Ambassadors, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced.

Ambassadors, through monthly meetings with staff, will provide insights and suggestions to the Mayor’s Office and Communications Department on relevant issues affecting residents and community members which will help inform communication and community outreach efforts. City communications are available through the City website at medfordma.org, the Mayor’s newsletter, the reverse-911 robo call system, social media platforms, Medford Community Media, direct mail and more, and this is a way to further enhance all the information being distributed by the City on a daily/weekly basis.

Those interested in applying are encouraged to fill out this form. Applicants should be interested in helping to expand communications throughout neighborhoods, have strong community involvement and be open to meeting monthly and as needed with Mayor’s Office staff.

The City also operates its Medford Connects Community Engagement Team, that works to strengthens social and climate resiliency by connecting all residents, including those most vulnerable to climate change, with resources, programs, and opportunities that support their well-being. Through dedicated “Connector” roles and multilingual Community Liaisons, the team helps residents access food, housing, healthcare, ESOL classes, employment opportunities, and more.

“With a City as diverse as Medford, it’s important that we gather as much input and feedback as possible to ensure that we’re effectively engaging people on all the important issues, programs and services that our City offers,” Mayor Lungo-Koehn said. “Having these neighborhood ambassadors deeply embedded in our communities will help enhance our public-facing communications and make sure all local voices and priorities are heard. I encourage anyone who has strong community ties to apply and help us improve our outreach strategy.”

The City is seeking applicants to serve as ambassadors in the following neighborhoods:

  • Haines Square
  • Hillside
  • Lawrence Estates
  • North Medford
  • South Medford
  • West Medford
  • Wellington
  • Neighborhood Ambassadors
