Mayor Stephanie M. Burke is excited to announce the 2017 Summer Recreation Program. Registration is now open for over 20 athletic and hands-on programs. Athletic clinics include soccer, flag football, softball, swimming and more for ages ranging from 3 to adults. Hands-on programs introduce youth ages 5-14 to creative activities such as computing, filmmaking, Lego workshops, rocket-making and more. Medford’s popular 6-week Parks Program is also returning, giving youth an opportunity to get outside and play from 9am-1pm each day from July 10 to August 18. The final event of the ‘Know Your City’ series on Wednesday, May 24 from 6-7pm will be a Department Head info session with Barbara Kerr, Director of the Medford Public Library, and Pam Kelly, Director of Elder Affairs at Council on Aging and the Medford Senior Center. In this interactive session, Pam Kelly will update attendees on the many programs, trips, social services, nutrition programs, and more that are offered at the Senior Center. The Red Sox Foundation will honor Vietnam Veterans on the field of Fenway Park during a special ceremony on July 15th. Vietnam Veterans can register to receive two tickets to the Sox v. Road and sidewalk construction on Boston and College Avenues in Medford may cause traffic delays in the Tufts University vicinity beginning Thursday, May 25. The phased project, which will improve pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety conditions at the busy intersection, is scheduled to be completed in mid-August. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the Boston and College Avenue intersection during the road and sidewalk construction beginning Tuesday, May 30. Pedestrian traffic will be guided away from the work zone. Curtis Hall at 474 Boston Ave. will be open and accessible during construction. The Medford Police Department will be
