Stephanie Muccini Burke is a life-long resident of Medford, where she and her husband Brian have raised their three children, Ryan, Connor and Brianna. Mayor Burke graduated from Medford Public Schools and enrolled at Suffolk University where she earned a degree in Business Administration. She continued her education at Bentley University where she received a master’s degree in Taxation.  In addition, Mayor Burke is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

Mayor Burke has had a large impact on the City of Medford from her time as a member of the Mystic Valley Development Commission at River’s Edge to a leader on the Medford City Council for 16 years until 2011, when former Mayor Michael J. McGlynn selected her as the Director of Personnel and Budget for the City.

Throughout her time serving the City in this capacity, Mayor Burke devised an infrastructure improvement plan that included a new pool and boilers at Medford High School, the two-phase school reconstruction program to replace aging elementary and middle schools across the City, the completed Department of Public Works facility, prioritized the investment of two new fields at Medford High School and Hormel Stadium as well as improvements to our parks, neighborhoods and public safety.

On January 4, 2016 Mayor Burke was sworn into office as the first newly elected female Mayor of Medford in 28 years. Burke is committed to making a difference in the City through improvements to public safety, transportation, our business districts and the overall quality of life.
