Mayor Stephanie Burke and the Medford High School Athletics Department have initiated a drive to collect sports equipment and athletic clothing for the Kingwood High School Mustangs in Houston, Texas.
Flooding has destroyed the Kingwood High School as well as the athletic fields and recreation equipment used by the students. As the City of the Medford Mustangs, Mayor Burke and the Medford High School Athletics Department want to help our fellow Mustangs in Houston reconnect with their community and one another through important recreation programs.
The community of Medford is invited to donate new or gently used equipment such as:
- Lacrosse Sticks/Balls
- Shin Guards
- Soccer Balls
- Tennis Rackets/Balls
- All other types of athletic equipment welcome
- All other types of athletic equipment is welcome
Once the equipment has been gathered, Teamsters Local 25 will transport the items to the Kingwood High School in Houston. Donations have already been secured from Riddell, the football helmet manufacturer, Tufts University’s Department of Athletics, and Universal Screen Studios. “I am proud of the great work that everyone throughout the community has done thus far for the victims of Hurricane Harvey,” said Mayor Burke. “We know how important athletic programs are in helping youth connect with one another, and we want to reach out to our fellow Mustangs to help get their programs up and running once the waters have receded.”
Equipment can be dropped off at LoConte Rink and Hormel Stadium Tuesday-Friday from 3-7pm and Saturday from 8-11am. Monetary donations are also welcome – checks can be made out to the Kingwood High School Athletic Department.
