Update Monday, April 10, 2017
Thank you for your patience in regards to using of the fields. Today is the first day we have been able to get equipment on a field to date. Each league should please exercise caution when using their permitted fields as they are not in the best shape. Some fields are still damp and we need to allow time to let the grass establish itself for the rest of the season .
We would advise ALL league reps that playing catch in the outfields and doing some hitting drills is ok on the outfield grass without the running back and forth, tearing it up.
Soccer Fields should be allowed more time to dry as they need the fields to have well established growth for the rest of the season. With that said please have any older groups hold off on using grass fields and the younger groups use grass if necessary.
After a survey of ALL Baseball, Softball & Soccer fields, it has been determined to be in the best interest of all the City’s fields to remained closed until further notice.
While we all are frustrated with the weather and the urgency to get outside, the fact remains that we need to try and keep Medford’s green space in good condition for the youth of the community.
As of now they are unsafe due to being soft and wet. Trying to use these fields in this condition would be detrimental to new grass grow and future use of ALL the parks.
When time and weather allow, they will be opened on a case by case basis, with priorities going to High School fields, youth fields and adult fields.
Reminder: Automobiles are not allowed to be driven in a City Park, especially in these conditions.
Thank you for understanding and updates will be posted when necessary.
