Today Mayor Stephanie M. Burke is announcing a pilot program for the Tufts Pool facility.
Beginning July 27, 2016, the wading pool within Tufts Pool will remain open until 7pm between Monday and Thursday. This new closing time is two hours later than the previously posted closing time of 5pm. This program and the new hours will be the policy at Tufts Pool for the remainder of the 2016 season.
The purpose of this program is to help measure public demand for increased access to this feature of the pool. Demand will be measured by a count provided by lifeguards on duty to the supervisors of the facility and recreation officials.
This is part of the Mayor’s continuing efforts to balance the ability to provide great services for the citizens of Medford with safety and budgetary requirements.
In part due to the new extended hours, the period for selling pool passes will be extended one week to August 3, 2016.
