The Energy and Environment Office together with the Treasurer-Collector and Assessor’s Offices will be holding an informational meeting at the Medford Public Library relative to the implementation of the new Community Preservation Act.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Magoun Room at the Medford Public Library.
Alicia Hunt, Director of the Energy and Environment Office will be on hand to provide attendees with an overview of the program and be available to answer questions regarding the make up of the new Community Preservation Committee, the scope of the work of the committee and how expenditure of funds generated by the act are appropriated.
Also on hand, Treasurer-Collector Ann Marie Irwin and Assessor Ed O’Neil will be available to answer questions relative to the assessment and collection of the new surcharge as well as exemptions that apply to low income and low-moderate income senior property owners. Exemption forms are currently available in the Assessor’s Office and online here. Property owners filing for the CPA exemption are encouraged to file their exemption forms by May 25, 2016, if eligible, to avoid having the CPA surcharge on their first quarter preliminary tax bill in July. Exemption forms will also be available at the library and the Medford Senior Center, 101 Riverside Avenue beginning by May 2, 2016.
