May 28, 2015 Update- Due to the weather forecast, Sunday’s Community Day has been postponed to the fall. Please stay tuned for the date.
Mayor Michael J. McGlynn today announced that Medford’s Community Day will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM behind the Andrews Middle School.
“Last year, Community Day was a huge success! This free event brought schools, religious organizations, non-profits, youth sports, local businesses and the rich diversity of our residents together to celebrate the great quality of life in the City of Medford,” said Mayor McGlynn.
The Community Day Committee plans to implement a few changes based upon last year’s feedback. A food court will be created where profit and non-profit groups will have food and beverages for sale. A seating area with tables and chairs will be set up for families to meet some of their favorite characters including: The Red Sox’s Wally the Green Monster, The Boston Bruin’s Bear Blades, Captain America, Spiderman, and Disney’s Frozen Princesses Elsa & Anna. Sarah Bradlee Fulton and Governor John Brooks will also make appearances to help celebrate the City’s 385th birthday.
The flags of over 60 nations representing Medford’s diverse population will be flying all around the Andrews School area. If your native country’s flag was not represented last year, please contact the Mayor’s Office! There will be a Touch-a-Truck area, a kiddie game area, hayrides, pony rides and a medical area tent set up. In addition, Community Day will feature one stage with local entertainment.
“We hope all members of the community will join us! This event brings families, neighbors and friends together for an enjoyable afternoon,” said McGlynn.
