The City of Medford will kick off the holiday season in style on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 4:30 – 6:30 PM in the parking lots of Medford City Hall. This is a free event, but the City is collecting toys for the United States Marines Corps Toys for Tots Program. Everyone who attends is urged to bring along a NEW, UNWRAPPED toy to donate to this campaign.
The event will feature: 105.7 WROR’S Street Team who, along with Boston DJ & Video, will provide holiday music for the evening. WROR will have games and contests for the kids. There will be visits by Princesses Elsa & Anna from Disney’s Frozen, the Boston Red Sox’s Wally the Green Monster, Patch the Armstrong Ambulance Clown, Blades the Bear & the Ice Girls from the Boston Bruins, and of course Santa Claus and his elves. An ice sculpture will be made on site featuring the Frozen theme, and there will be pony rides, kiddie moonwalk, kiddie merry go round, face painting, hayrides. The Jingle Bell Decorated Tree Festival will be inside City Hall. There will be live entertainment as well this year. The Senior Dance Troupe from the Dance Studio of Medford will perform a holiday dance sequence and “Los Rubios,” Medford High School’s Singing Quartet led by teacher Michael Skorker, will also perform.
There will be food trucks on site for those who may want to purchase some yummy food items including… Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, the Chicken & Rice Guys, Dean’s Special Events (fried dough & fried Oreos), and Fred’s Franks. In addition, Medford High’s Baseball team will be selling pizza as a fundraiser, with pizza provided by Lisa’s Pizzeria, which just opened in the Hillside area. Medford’s Kid’s Corner will be hosting a bake sale, the Medford Boy Scouts will be selling holiday wreaths, and the McGlynn School PTO will be selling backpacks and tickets to Boston Celtics games. The entire City Hall will be lit up, including the Hanukkah Menorah, the Christmas Tree and the Kwanza Kinara. It looks to be a fantastic family friendly event! All are welcome!
“We could not do this without our team, our major sponsor of the holiday celebration, Comcast NBCUniversal as well as the Medford Chamber of Commerce and the Medford Vocational Technical High School. We hope to see everyone on December 3rd,” said Mayor Michael J. McGlynn.
